Code of Conduct

Applies to all guests, staff, performers and partners for the full duration of the event

Thongers Weekend Australia is a relaxed, body-positive social weekend for gay and bi men. Everyone here has chosen to spend a weekend in swimwear among a community of like-minded guys, and that only works if everyone feels safe, respected and welcome. This code of conduct sets out what we expect from every guest, and applies from check-in on Friday through to check-out on Sunday, across all official event spaces and activities.

By registering, every guest agrees to this code of conduct. It sits alongside, and does not replace, the venue’s own house rules and Queensland law, both of which continue to apply.

1. Who this event is for

• This is an 18+ event. Proof of age may be requested at check-in.
• All guests, regardless of body type, background, ability or experience, are welcome. Thongers Weekend Australia is body-positive by design, and we expect guests to treat each other accordingly.

2. Respect and consent

• Consent matters, always. Ask before you touch someone, take a photo of them, or join a group. “No” is a complete answer and should be respected without argument.
• Unwelcome sexual comments, groping, or persistent attention after someone has said no will not be tolerated.
• Respect personal space, especially by the pool and in shared social areas where guests are in swimwear.
• Discrimination, harassment or hate speech relating to race, body type, HIV status, age, disability, gender identity or any other personal characteristic is not welcome here and may result in removal from the event without refund.

3. Dress code

• Thongs and swimwear are the spirit of the weekend and are welcome at the pool, at poolside events and at any session explicitly flagged as swimwear-friendly in the program.
• A cover-up (sarong, shorts, t-shirt) is required when moving through hotel reception, lifts, corridors and any other space shared with the general public or other hotel guests. This protects the venue relationship as much as it protects you.
• Evening events such as the Saturday night show and Sunday drag brunch may have their own suggested dress, noted in the program closer to the date.

4. Photography and privacy

• Ask before photographing or filming another guest, and respect a no if given.
• Official event photographers may be on site for marketing and recap content. Anyone who does not want to appear in official photography can flag this at registration and will be given a marker to wear.
• Do not post identifiable photos or videos of other guests to social media or elsewhere without their consent.

5. Alcohol and personal wellbeing

• Drink service follows Queensland responsible service of alcohol requirements, and venue staff may refuse service at their discretion.
• Look out for your mates. If someone seems unwell, overly intoxicated, or in distress, please alert event staff or venue security.
• Illicit drug use is not permitted and may result in removal from the event and involvement of venue security or police, consistent with the venue’s own policies.

6. Pool and health and safety

• Follow all venue pool rules, including any posted supervision hours and capacity limits.
• Sun safety is on you: Queensland sun in February is strong. Sunscreen, water and shade breaks are strongly encouraged.
• Report any accident, injury or hazard to event staff or venue reception straight away.

7. Our partners and performers

• Our swimwear partner’s staff, models and any contracted performers (including drag and cabaret talent) are part of the event team. Please treat them with the same respect asked of every guest.
• Product on sale at the swimwear partner’s pop-up shop is subject to the partner’s own sale terms.

8. If something goes wrong

A staff member wearing event lanyard identification will be reachable throughout the weekend for any concerns, incidents or complaints. All reports will be treated seriously and confidentially where possible. Depending on the nature of the concern, the event organiser may involve venue security, venue management or Queensland Police.

9. Breaches of this code

Benevents reserves the right to issue a warning, remove a guest from the event without refund, or refer a matter to venue security or police, depending on the severity of a breach of this code of conduct. Decisions on breaches rest with the event organiser and are final.
